The Museum of Special Education in Levoča received the title of the best cultural and educational facility of the Prešov Region in 2019.

The Museum of Special Education in Levoča won the online public vote in the category of the Best in Tourism of the Prešov Region in 2019.

 “It is mainly a moral award for a modern and interactive museum, the only one of its kind in the wider region of Central Europe. The award reflects the result of the successful year 2019, “ comments Štefánia Petreková, head of the museum.

It is believed that the award will contribute to greater media coverage, higher attendance and interest of tourists in the issue when visiting historic Levoča.

The Museum of Special Education is an experiential, engaging and original space. The little ones will also appreciate playfullness of the museum.

Petreková reminds that the museum is currently on the threshold of its jubilee year, when it will celebrate 30 years since its establishment (November 16, 1990). The planned varied offer of museum educational programs is intended to appeal especially to school groups. “We are preparing an experiential and playful ‘Children’s Week at the Museum before the summer´. Further connecting generations through the activity ‘Take grandparents to the museum.’ Subsequently, the summer will belong to the successful project ‘Legendarium’ with a story about Louis Braille and tours of the interactive exhibition. We will make the exhibition ‘Gothic Journey by Touch’ available at the end of the year,” Petreková concretizes.

Online voting lasted from 13 December 2019 to 13 January 2020. The award ceremony take place on 23 January 2020 at 12:30 p.m. at the international tourism exhibition ITF SLOVAKIATOUR 2020 in Incheba Expo Bratislava, in the stand of the Prešov region.
